Welcome to the Garden Journal!

Over the last three years, our garden spaces have grown. Thanks to our sponsors, community support, and our school’s staff, parent volunteers and students - we now have three gardens and one more planned! This journal is a place for our community to share thoughts, ideas, accomplishments, challenges, and more. For our first post, I’d like to offer some insight into our garden spaces and why they are so important to our community.

  • What is a garden?

    • A garden is an ecosystem designed to be tended by people. It is different from a landscape in that the tending provides mutual benefits between the ecosystem and the people who care for it.

  • Why so many garden spaces?

    • Our school is unique (and amazing) and our students get the most benefit out of the gardens in small groups. With multiple gardens, our students have more opportunities to work and play in the gardens throughout the day.

  • How can I contribute?

    • There are many ways to contribute to the garden.

      • Enjoy the gardens! Our gardens are designed to bring joy, comfort, and nourishment to our community. Let us know that you visited, along with your thoughts and feedback using this form, Your opinions matter and help us to gather more funding.

      • Join us on garden work days and for garden celebrations. People of all ages, abilities, and gardening experience are welcome.

      • Donate to the gardens. You can donate directly to the garden here [link], purchase from our amazon list [here], or help us scavenge much needed supplies from this list [link].

Thanks for reading! - Kara (Yvie’s Mom)
